Happiness

Happiness

“The path to happiness is full of shit heaps and shame” - Mark Manson
Recently I read a book and came across that quote. It really had me thinking, what is happiness?
I think that nowadays we spend so much time chasing after the idea of what happiness is that we actually end up unhappy in the process.
Happiness is not a thing, it’s not a destination, it’s not sunshine and rainbows everyday of your life. Happiness is struggle!
What do I mean by that exactly?
Happiness is finding a struggle that you are willing to endure, that you are happy to endure because it will bring you closer to whatever your ultimate goal may be.
What ignites your soul? What gives you purpose? What do you want in life?
These questions, when answered, will bring you struggles and those struggles you’ll encounter while on your way to fulfilling your purpose will in turn become your happiness.
When you ask most people what they want in life, a lot will answer with - happiness.
But what does happiness mean to you?
You’ve all seen it before. People who have so much money they don’t know what to do with it. People who work purposeless jobs and climb up a corporate ladder getting promotion after promotion. Success and happiness do not always go hand in hand.
Happiness is the journey.
Take a look at yourself in the mirror and ask, ‘What do I want in life?’.Don’t let it be a superficial answer, but really really dig deep. It’s surprising how many of us don’t really know.
In order to find happiness you need to first find yourself and understand your purpose. Understand that it’s going to involve hard work, disappointments, risks, sleepless nights, heart ache, and every other shitty thing you can think of, but finding something worth struggling for will make your accomplishments that much sweeter.
Live your best life. Live your true, genuine best life. I promise you, it’s going to be lit.

Such a moving and inspiring message, to know you’re not the only one out there, even though we go through struggle, also know we’re not in it alone! It’s good to know that what ever journey you endeavor, there are connections that can be made along the way. Best thing about being lit… it’s contagious!
